Hi guys,
I can't find any way to get my audio files out of QuickVoice app for ipad. It was free, so didn't expect miracles, but thought I'd get my files! Seems to be NO way to export or copy these files off iPad. Ive tried everything. Some of these were important to me ..hate the thought of losing them.
Email is only built-in option for exporting from this app, with 5MB limit. $2.99 Pro isn't much better having zero added export/upload options, just allows 20MB file attachments. Tops, it *might* free my smallest file. I know NOW that a 30sec recording = 5 MB, but reading this:
http://j.mp/Crap5MB
...gave the impression my largest file, 13:00 minutes @ medium quality, would no hassle, let alone a measly 2:38!
Tried connecting/sync to desktop, but unable to even locate them. Also tried contacting developer, politely, multiple times.
I have a Camera Connection kit - can connect USB to IPad. No idea how to go about it. I have lots of other connectors, cable and port adapters. Don't know how to use ANY, lol. iPad is mine, iMac and assorted stuff is my 19yr old son's territory. He's not available to do this for me unfortunately
Creative, hypothetically possible ideas welcome (typed SLOWLY, lol)!
I've been at this for days, and found only ONE sure-fire solution: 'play each recording and re-record it through the earbud jack or quality recorder in very quiet room.' <- if this is it, I'm sunk.
Thanks for your time,
kristy
Btw, reviews are junk, sort by 'critical', much more accurate:

[s] Aaaah, tried to edit, but links have taken over. First one anyway, only very last word is separate link - do I need to delete? [/s]
Cant delete this and it now makes no sense. My whole post kept turning into a link. Now it doesnt.

Yes. But you're not sunk. Use an AUX cable.
Plug one end of the AUX cable into the iPad, the other end into the Line-In (or microphone) port on your PC. Open up audacity and record a sample first. Listen to it, see if the quality is good enough. If it is, go for the bigger level, record the whole audio files.

It will take time. Is there any auto-play option? Like when one recording finishes, the next one starts? If that's the case, leave it to record overnight, and that's it...
And next time, use the default 'Voice Memos' app :)
To me the most frustrating thing about the iPad is data transfer...
There ARE program around that do the transfer better than iTunes. Some allow a USB flashdrive hook-up, I assume with the camera kit, but I've not tried it. Others have transfer capability via Wi-Fi. Most however are for moving 'known' files to and from the iPad, such as video and pictures, and I assume the go into the proper place of iPad apps to use them?
I've tried THS ONE but had very little luck with it? I can see the PDF file from my browser, but I can't OPEN it in the browser, connection can't be made? I am using the free app, FILEAPP, maybe it has limitations, don't know? However, from this page, http://www.digidna.net/products/fileapp it appears it should work?
I've NOT played with it much however...
Another I've looked at is THIS ONE. Not much luck with that either?
I've tried Phone Drive but it seems to only access 'itself' on the iPad. I can use FTP to move stuff to and from its shared folder but can't move stuff into or out of that folder from other apps on the iPad?
I guess you'll have to try some and see (and report BACK if you find one that works for you!). Open the App Store, enter file transfer in the search box and you'll see 56 iPad apps that have it in one way or another. Start reading the description and trying some I guess.
I think the major problem is none of these are aware of how non-Apple apps, like the Photo's or Video's, as well as the paid for ones like Pages or Numbers, KNOW where the data is stored and named. Without that I guess they can't find the data to transfer AND tell the app new data is available? I could be wrong on this though?

If your iPad is jailbroken, you might be able to get the recordings by first finding their proper path (via iFile), and uploading them to dropbox (via iFile again)
THIS is also an interesting program for the PC... however, without jailbreaking the iPad2 (and I'm not sure any exist right now) it doesn't do much?

Oh thank God!! Hatryst, ispalten - thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! Seriously, thank you - this is my first chance to get back online, so I don't know if any will work for sure - but Im betting YES - Im not sure if there's auto-play, but honestly, if I have to sit and hold the d**** cable in place I could care less if it means getting them -
It seemed so stupid. Impossible even. As in, 'Of course you can GET them, silly - it's entire FUNCTION is audio files... surely they'd mention the majority of it's 'features' only applying to 30 second clips? They'd HAVE to!'
Well, as Mike Brady said, I've learned a valuable lesson. Check the date of last update. Use 'App xx: complaints problems' as search terms. Don't use a free app for anything important.
Oooo, now I'm dying to start but I'm stuck waiting for a few hours.
Love to know how its still getting good reviews and being downloaded so regularly.
You guys are awesome.
PS. thank you
WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO! It kept crashing, but it was doing that. I think it'll improve as I get the files off because oddly, it doesn't crash if iPad is fully charged, cache cleared, etc. Don't really get that, but so be it. Maybe airplane mode will help.
I don't care. Point is getting them'!!!!!
THAAAAAAAAAAAaaanks!!!!!!!!!!
