Implementation of multi-factor authentication (MFA) with Office 365 applications - including email - when off-campus will begin mid-2020. The university will use Duo to provide additional authentication to prove you are who you say you are before accessing the Office 365 suite of applications from off-campus or your mobile device. OIT recommends using the Microsoft Office 365 desktop or mobile device applications for access to all these programs. After MFA is implemented with Office 365, if you are accessing these applications off-campus, you will be prompted to authenticate through Duo.
What you can do now to prepare
First: Install the Duoapp on your preferred device (we highly recommend doing this on your smartphone).
Second: Be sure you register for Duo from your laptop or desktop computer. (Printable Duo registration and installation instructions available here.)
Once you install the Duo app, register for Duo and select your authentication method and device; then you're all set! (Please note: If you already installed and registered for Duo as a VPN or VDI user, you don’t have to register again.)
